Born July 14, 1866, in Stockholm; died there Feb. 5, 1945. Swedish architect. Östberg was a representative of the national romantic trend in architecture. He studied at the Higher Technical School and at the Academy of Arts in Stockholm. In 1921 he was made a professor at the Academy of Arts. His most important work, the city hall in Stockholm, dominates an important part of the city center; the building recalls elements of medieval architecture. Stockholm Stadthaus.
